The World Health Organization lists human donor milk as the second best option after a mother’s own milk. If you wish to either donate or procure human donor milk The Human Milk Banking Association of North America is a reputable non-profit organization.

In many developing areas of the world where HIV is prevalent, including Africa, the option of developing LOCAL human milk banks is far less expensive and sustainable than shipping human milk from New York. If you wish to support such efforts we recommend that you research nonprofit organizations that have a solid track record of working with the local population in a sustainable manner.
